About RFP
History
The Roundtable of Food Professionals-NYC (RFP-NYC) evolved from the Roundtable for Women in Foodservice, Inc (RWF) founded in 1982. During its two decades, RWF fulfilled its mission to introduce women to the fine art of networking, to reach beyond their individual disciplines to the food industry as a whole. This single NYC chapter grew to a national organization with multi-state chapters; members won awards and recognition in national competition. But the vision had changed...as The Millennium arrived the decision to reach out and embrace all Food Professionals, men and women was realized: RFP-NYC was founded in 2001.
Who We Are
RFP-NYC is devoted to promoting the professional growth of all members within the various sectors of the Food Industry. RFP-NYC allies itself with former chapters of RWF nationwide thereby increasing the opportunity for support and growth. RFP-NYC includes restaurant operators, food/equipment suppliers, allied/ associate professionals, bakers, caterers, nutritionists and students to form an umbrella organization benefiting every segment of this multi-faceted industry.
Food Entrepreneurs and Managers need mentoring, need to learn the essentials of defining realistic objectives, need exposure to sound business practices. The "young hopeful" brings unorthodox ideas, risk taking, a "shoot-from-the-hip" energy. The seasoned professional offers a world view which tempers the young professional's need for a reasoned approach.
RFP-NYC provides the forum, the small group venue, the personal attention for members on the journey to the realization of their goals.

Benefits Of Membership Include:
Directory of Members
Online and annual printed version
List Serve
An interactive online "conversation" among members to ask and answer questions
Dinah Atkins NBIA president and CEO feels strongly about the value of the member ListServ: "I believe that the member listserv is potentially the single most important tool that NBIA members can use-and it's free to members. The ListServ permits members to get real time information, experience, templates and tools to help them in developing and managing their problems. Members and staff all participate in providing references and advice."
Attendance to members only events and reduced price to Dinner Events open to the general public featuring the following:
Master-Mind Sessions
Intense, unique, MEMBER ONLY, small group events; designed to focus on a single aspect of the "nuts and bolts" of business; the group leader acts as "coach" to assist participants in identifying their needs and finding solutions.
Roundtable Sessions
Limited to members these alternate with our Mastermind Sessions. The pleasure of learning more about each other and the exchange of contacts is the focus of these meetings; we dine at fine restaurants with attendance limited to 10.
Dinner Events
Informal and casual these events seek to foster cross-mentoring. New alliances are formed as it is almost impossible not to find SOMEONE within the diverse membership of RFP-NYC. Advertisement of these events includes the public as well with, on occasion, a chance to see the "private face"of the venue...an opportunity seldom available to the public.
General Membership $100
Full Time Student Membership $55 (proof of current school registration required)
RFP-NYC accomplishes its mission when members:
* Participate in the growth of the organization
* Attend at least 4 events per year
* Serve on the Board of RFP-NYC
* Provide sponsorship to promote financial growth
"Being a member has provided me with the ability to use and hone my leadership skills through active participation within the organization. The value to a member will be in direct correlation to what that member puts into their membership. The important thing is that the organization has the resources and opportunities to be a benefit to every professional in the Food Industry." -- RM senior corporate management
